Worcester Ukulele Club will be offering a workshop for beginners this month.

The workshop will take place at the University of Worcester's St John's campus in the Cotswold Room of the Elgar Building.

A spokesperson from the club said: “Come and join us and learn to play the ukulele and have some fun.

"You don’t need to own a ukulele, there will be instruments to borrow for the day.

"You don’t need to know anything about music when you arrive, but by the time you leave you should have learned a few basic chords and a simple song or two.”

The workshop will take place from 10.30am - 12.30pm on Sunday, May 29.

Members of Worcester Ukulele Club decided to hold a beginners' workshop to share their passion for the ukulele and the fun they have playing the instrument.

The workshop is only available to those over 18 and costs £5 to attend.

For details, or to book a slot, contact workshop@emaildodo.com.

Steve Ricketts from Music City will be at the workshop, with ukuleles and accessories on sale.

The club began back in 2010 with a handful of people on a course at Elgar School of Music. There are now about 100 active WUCCIES - as they now describe themselves.

Many perform at gigs, raising money for the club’s chosen charity, which this year is Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Over the years the club has met at different venues as membership has grown.

The club now meets at Worcester University, in the Worcester Room (Conference Centre), St John’s Campus, Monday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and regularly attracts around 60 players.
